Great Decisions 2020 Part 1 -- Paul Greiling

LLCC is happy to announce that Great Decisions is back again. Great Decisions was the first course that was offered by LLCC back in 2012. This course is Part 1 of Great Decisions 2020.
Great Decisions is America's largest discussion program on world affairs. The program encourages debate and discussion of the important global issues of our time, using study materials from the Foreign Policy Association (independent and non-partisan) to help reach informed opinions. Each year, Great Decisions highlights eight of the most thought-provoking foreign policy challenges facing Americans. Great Decisions 2020 is divided into two courses, discussing four of the topics from the Great Decisions 2020 Briefing Book in each course.
To fully participate in this course, each participant must obtain their own Great Decisions 2020 Briefing Book from the Foreign Policy Association.The book costs $32, plus shipping, at the Foreign Policy Association website. We understand that the Foreign Policy Association ships very quickly. It is a good idea to order the book as soon as you register for the course.
The course will be run like the original LLCC Great Decisions course with attendee participation in leading and discussing topics listed in the Foreign Affairs booklet, Great Decisions 2020. The course will be divided in two 4 session parts:
The topics for this course are:
Part I
1. Climate Change and the Global Order
2. India and Pakistan
3. Red Sea Security
4. Modern Slavery and Human Trafficking
Part II
5. U.S. Relations with the Northern Triangle
6. Chinas Road into Latin America
7. The Philippines and the U.S.
8 Artificial Intelligence and Data
Each session will be a class discussion which will be led by the instructor using the associated article & DVD from Great Decisions 2020 as background material. Attendees are asked to come prepared to participate in the group discussions.
This is a very participatory class.
Note: The same Briefing Book will be used for both Part 1 and Part 2 of this course.
Registering for this course by buying a ticket will admit you to all four sessions of this course.
Paul Greiling has led the Great Decisions class in the past. Dr. Greiling was a Professor at UCLA and Manager of a research microelectronics Laboratory @Hughes Research Labs
