WE ARE SORRY TO ANNOUNCE The MISSY RAINES QUARTET WEST COAST TOUR has been CANCELLED!
Missy Raines, the 2019 International Bluegrass Music Association Bass Player of the Year, is bringing her Nashville based, world class quartet to the Yachats Commons, Wed. March 18, for a 6 PM concert.
Missy Raines is hailed as One of the first ladies of bluegrass Raines has won the coveted IBMA award 8 times. Missy is kicking off her west coast tour in Yachats. Already in 2020 Missy has performed at the Grand Ole Opry, and walked the Red Carpet at the Grammys, as her album Royal Traveller was nominated for the 2019 best bluegrass award.
In January 2020 Missy joined Steve Martin & Martin Short touring along with The First Ladies of Bluegrass; Alison Brown, Becky Buller, Sierra Hull and Molly Tuttle. Missys version of the iconic Flatt & Scruggs song. Darlin Pal(s) of Mine (from Royal Traveller), was named 2019 Instrumental Recording of the Year by the IBMA. Missy brings a talented band along with her featuring, Avery Merritt on fiddle, David Benedict on mandolin and Ben Garnett on guitar.
Mandolinist David Benedict has a reputation for being an exciting instrumentalist and talented composer. He won the 2018 IBMA Momentum Award for Instrumentalist of the Year. He travels with a degree in Mandolin Music Performance. David has toured the world with the bluegrass band Mile Twelve and has recorded on a number of albums Jazz guitar sensation Julian Lage notes, David is one of the most inspiring lights on the creative acoustic music scene today. A talented player and composer who is paving the way for new and exciting music! I cant wait to see where he takes us! Avery Merritt is a Boston based multi-style fiddle player. A graduate of Berklee College of Music he is highly sought for recordings and live performances, and is the winner of numerous awards and accolades. After early training with classical techniques and various genres, his interest turned to bluegrass, and he began studying with California fiddle legends Phil Salazar and Richard Greene. His interest in Jazz lead him to study with Christian Howes at the Creative Strings Academy where he played with Billy Contreras, Jason Anick and many other premier jazz violinists. Jazz has led Avery to explore more electric and contemporary string sounds in addition to his acoustic career.
Ben Garnett is a Nashville-based guitarist, composer, and educator. Ben majored in jazz studies performance at the University of North Texas and gained a reputation for his skilled versatility as an electric and acoustic guitarist in bands spanning multiple genres (western swing, gypsy jazz, modern jazz, bluegrass, country, rock, top 40, soul, and R&B. Although with a background primarily in jazz and improvised music, Ben prefers to keep an open, in the cracks, musical palette, which lovingly and fluently draws on various traditions of music hes been a part of (namely jazz, folk, bluegrass, classical, and rock music). Polly Plumb Productions is a 501(c)3 tax-exempt organization that produces diverse, artistic, colorful, whimsical, musical and intelligent arts and cultural programming that embraces and reflects the inclusive and eclectic nature of Yachats residents and visitors.
