Melvin Seals is a recording artist, producer and record company executive in the field of gospel music. He has performed/recorded with Elvin Bishop, Charlie Daniels, Chuck Berry - and for 15 years with Jerry Garcia. He was the featured organist on several Broadway hits. Melvin formed JGB with Gloria Jones and Jackie Labranch, Garcia's background singers.

Stu Allen (Melvin Seals and JGB)
Guitarist-singer Stu Allen joined Melvin Seals & JGB in June 2004 and appears on the 'Keepers of the Flame' album. Melvin Seals states:  "It's really scary what I see him do on stage and what I hearwhere my mind goes remembering being on stage with Jerry (Garcia)." He has been a featured performer at Jerry Garcia Day in 2006, 2007, and 2008. He has performed with Bob Weir, Steve Kimock, Warren Haynes, and others.

Dan co-founded and toured with ALO (Animal Liberation Orchestra). He spent a formative summer performing with members of the James Brown Band, and was a founding member of nationally touring Global Funk Council. He has opened for/toured with Jack Johnson, G Love, and Galactic. Dan's is now focused on ALO as well as leading his newest project, Lebo.

Greg Anton has played drums with Steve Kimock/Zero, Cast of Clowns, John Lee Hooker, Stanley Jordan and Jerry Garcia, in addition to composing soundtracks and co-writing songs with Robert Hunter. Greg was a founding member of "Heart of Gold Band". He and "Heart of Gold" guitarist Steve Kimmock went on to form "Zero". "Zero" performed over 1300 concerts and recorded eight albums. The band included at various times: John Cipollina, Jerry Garcia, Nicky Hopkins, Pete Sears and many more. Greg has composed soundtracks for plays, film and TV; published over fifty original songs, and played drums on more than twenty-five albums. Joel Selvin of the San Francisco Chronicle writes; "A musical drummer with powerful dynamics that puts down a beat that is the heart of the band."

Robin Sylvester has recorded or performed with the Beach Boys, Ry Cooder, Marty Balin, and Bo Diddley. Robin toured with Bob Weir & RatDog for many years. He began his career in a professional boys' choir whose patron was composer Benjamin Britten. He was recording at Abbey Road about the time the Beatles began working there in the early '60s. He came to the U.S. in 1974 as part of a band backing bluesy diva Dana Gillespie. Alternating between Top 40 gigs and engineering, he settled in San Francisco in the late 1970s and found gigs with Steve Seskin, Marty Balin, and the late legendary saxophonist and producer Steve Douglas, with whom he worked on sessions with Little Richard, Dylan, Ry Cooder, and Phil Spector, before joining RatDog.

Jason Crosby has performed with Phil Lesh and Friends, God Street Wine, Susan Tedeschi band, Robert Randolph band, Zen Tricksters, RatDog and Furthur, Assembly of Dust,  as well as participating in Weir Here and activities at TRI studios as well as working on the Beck Song Reader Project.
