Join with other Lifelong Learning folks at Central Coast Outdoors for a half day guided kayaking tour of Morro Bay. You'll have a fun-filled morning of paddling through waters protected from the open ocean and rich in bird life and you'll also have the opportunity to explore the pristine sand dunes on the far side of the Morro Bay.
After launching, our exact kayaking route may vary depending on tides and recent wildlife activity on the bay, but the tour includes possible visits to the harbor seal haul out area, a heron rookery, and an oyster farm as well as chances to see otters. Later in the morning, we beach our kayaks on a secluded part of the sand dunes. Enjoy the Bay side of the dunes or opt for a short climb over the dunes to a hidden Chumash shell midden and stunning ocean views up and down miles of isolated beach. Then a short paddle across Morro Bay back to the docks.
A self-professed outdoors junkie, John Flaherty has bicycled, hiked, and paddled on five continents. He is a veritable sponge for all topics related to natural history and has been designing and running interpretive programs for private touring companies for over two decades. He has an infectious love of the outdoors and loves presenting knowledge in an interesting manner that people will remember.
