Scary Cow Presents: Grip Basics with Ben Ferrer
Tired of fetching coffee? Gripping is a great way to start working on sets while observing the production process.
Come spend the evening at Grip Basics and you'll learn how to safely move and set up common grip gear typically found on most sets. Learn the difference between a Mafer and a Platypus; how to "soldier" c-stands; turn your "apples" from "LA" to "Chicago" to "New York" and more! Topics cover: Common grip gear the names, uses and best practices. Frequently used grip terminology. Safety concerns. Hands on exercises. Wrapping the set. Everyone attending should bring a medium to heavy-duty extension cord and desire to learn. Bio: Ben Ferrer is the Director of Photography at Transvideo Studios and teaches Lighting courses at BAVC and De Anza College. Relatively new to The Herd, Ben was the Cinematographer for Abe Heisler's The Typist.
This event is free for Scary Cow Members. Check portal calendar for discount code.
We are located off Market near Civic Center Bart. There is some street parking around, but taking public transportation is recommended.
