Andre Feriante
Award-winning, Segovia-trained guitarist and composer Andre Feriante has been sharing the gift of music with audiences around the word for 30 years. Beginning with his first concert in Rome in 1979, he has introduced a sensual and contemporary sound to an otherwise traditional genre. His creative blend of classical, flamenco and Brazilian styles speaks to people from all walks of life. Andres journey began in Italy, where he was born. At age 13, he heard the flamenco guitar and his life changed for ever.
By the age of 21, Feriante had studied with the great Maestro Andres Segovia in Spain, played concerts in Europe and North and South America, and was part of the music faculty at two colleges. Feriantes long career has taken him to hundreds of stages, including Seattles Benaroya Hall and The Triple Door. He has played the National Anthem at Key Arena and at a Sounders game at Qwest Field. He has shared the stage with The NW Symphony, Heart, and Alice in Chains. On several occasions, he has been invited to perform for the Jose Carreras International Leukemia Foundation at venues such as Carnegie Hall.
Feriante has released 14 albums, several of which have reached top 10 radio airplay charts. His CD Bohemian Boulevard won Best World Album. His newest recording, Terra de Eros, is a reflection of his multiple-instrument show, String Stories, a truly unique and creative musical journey which features originals and standards played on guitars, ukulele, banjo, harp guitar, and charango.
Andre has been the artistic director of Leavenworths Guitar Euphoria Festival for two years and is the host of La Guitarra on the King FM Arts Channel. His pop culture appearances include a mention in the MSN.com feature 12 Sexy Bald Men, where he was named among stars including Andre Agassi, Patrick Stewart, Seal, and others.
Andres world view is one of hope, love, and empathy. He hopes the passionate and reflective qualities in his songs will bring listeners inward to discover the similarities among humans, creating more peace and ease in the world.
