The New Milwaukee Consort presents Primavera: Songs of Rebirth, Renewal, and Springtime
Join the players and singers of Milwaukees newest Early Music ensemble as they explore music by Monteverdi, Landini, Luzzaschi, Dowland, Marais, & more. Featuring lute, viola da gamba, Baroque cello, Baroque guitar, and voice. Joining us for this concert will be special guest soprano, Katie Koester, along with founding members Charlie Rasmussen (Baroque cello, viola da gamba), Tim Sterner Miller (lute), and Kristin Knutson (soprano, Baroque guitar). Approximate run time is 90 minutes including intermission.
More about the New Milwaukee Consort: The New Milwaukee Consort is dedicated to the music of the European Renaissance and Baroque, crafting intimate performances around words and music whose stories resonate across the centuries. They particularly relish bringing lesser known sounds of the 17th century to modern audiences, from the work of women composers such as Barbara Strozzi to music from handwritten manuscripts documenting the early development of the cello and ongoing experimentation on the lute. Since its inception in 2019, the New Milwaukee Consort has shared its music with audiences through the Alliance Française of Milwaukee, Madisons LunArt Festival, Spring Greens Rural Musicians Forum, and Wauwatosas Trinity Episcopal Church.
