THE THREE AMIGOS
THE THREE AMIGOS Bennett, Haslam, Raskin Reading
At The Sebastopol Center for the Arts, October 3rd from 7-9 p.m. Tickets $10

Come join us for a reunion of friends and a first time ever joint public reading by these three beloved Sonoma State University professors and noted authors who will each provide different perspectives on Mexico, humanity and culture through their literature.

STERLING BENNETT will be making his North Bay debut reading from his new novel, "Playing for Pancho Villa", a love story set in 1916 revolutionary Mexico. Bennett, who was a finalist for the 2011 Flannery O'Connor  Short Fiction Award, taught German language and literature at SSU for many years, living in Sebastopol and now resides in Guanajuato, Mexico where he is writing his next book.

GERALD HASLAM  is the author of nine collections of short fiction, four novels, three essay collections, four  non-fiction books. He taught literature and fiction writing at SSU for 30 years. He will read an essay about what led him to become a writer and from "The Horned Toad" a short fiction based on his parents' mixed (Latina-Anglo) marriage.  Haslam says his family "represents the integration that has been occurring since the nineteenth century".

JONAH RASKIN is the author of fourteen books and a professor emeritus at SSU where he taught English, Communication Studies.  A Fulbright Professor, he will be reading from his biography "The Search for B. Traven" about the presumably German phantom writer who lived much of his life in Mexico City surrounded by mystery.  Raskin has also lived and worked in Mexico.

A rare opportunity and event NOT to miss.
