MARGA GOMEZ
--------------------------
"Spanking Machine"  (This excerpt offers a taste of Marga's full length show which will soon open at BRAVA)

"You don't want to ever go near the Spanking Machine. You don't ever want to see it." Scotty said. Then he noticed me, the tallest girl in third grade.
"Margaret where have you been all my life?" No one had ever called me that before because it wasn't my name. His real name was Agamamnon Perez Jr.
But he shortened it to Scotty because he thought Agamemnon sounded too Cuban.

TRACY VERNON
--------------------------
"WE'RE GOING TO MARINE WORLD?!?"

When my colleague announces we're taking our classes to Marine World, it triggers my deep fear of field trips. Why am I so scared? Is it the fact that Mike, the hippie recreation leader, ditched me there when I was a child? Will the trip run smoothly this time, or am I bound to repeat my ill-fated field trip history?

JOE MALLON
--------------------------
"It's The Fire's Turn"

After the nightmare of Election Night 2016, Sue and Joe desperately need some self-care. So how'd they end up 6,000 miles from home, frozen to the bone, listening to Eurovision winners sing songs about a 40-foot straw goat?

CANDACE Y. JOHNSON
--------------------------
"VOX in a BOX"

Producers said I'd be the next Whitney Houston or Mariah Carey. But when I got in the recording booth, I never had enough soul. The voice they called pretty just didn't seem to fit in my brown body. Should I break my voice trying to sing like the Queen of Soul, or should I sing what felt good and disappoint my people: opera! Or, maybe it would be better to just never sing again!
