Walk the Line (2005)
The story of country music legend Johnny Cash (Joaquin Phoenix) traces his life from his boyhood roots on the family cotton farm in Arkansas to worldwide super-star status.
Along the way, Johnny buys a guitar, writes his first musical composition, and makes his first recording. Cash finds his trademark sound in Memphis. He breaks into the music scene and records alongside Elvis Presley, Jerry Lee Lewis, and Carl Perkins.
While on tour, Cash meets the love of his life, the already-famous songstress June Carter (Reese Witherspoon). Their unspoken relationship grows as Cashs marriage falls apart. This is followed by a divorce, pills and booze, and an empty life. June leaves the tour because of Johnnys behavior and the effects of his drug addiction. Later, June and the Carter family step in, determined to nurse Johnny back to health and ease him out of his personal ring of fire.
In 1968, Cashs outlaw side and unhappiness give way to the twin triumphs of his concert at Folsom Prison and June Carters acceptance of his marriage proposal.
The rest is music history.
