Event
September LAI Luncheon
The Transbay District combines award-winning neighborhood planning with the public and private-sector investment needed to make this transit-oriented community a reality. On this panel, we will hear from the public and private-sector leaders of the Transbay Project about what it takes to create such a neighborhood. Transit-Oriented Development (TOD) aims to reduce traffic congestion and greenhouse gas emissions and improve the quality of the urban working and living experience by promoting public transit, bike- and pedestrian-friendly streets, and diverse land uses; offices, housing at all levels of affordability, open space, retail, and other amenities. Cities around the nation are pushing for transit-oriented infrastructure and private development focused on the new transit facilities. Successful TOD demands that cities secure public and private investment to implement transit-oriented neighborhood planning.
