ARC DANCE PRODUCTION'S BARN DANCE SOCIAL
Seattle, WA: ARC Dance Productions is holding a Barn Dance Social, complete with live band and Caller to rally the community and gallop towards future sustainability of its education and performance programs.
ARC Dance has been offering opportunities for the community to participate in dance performances and classes since 1999. In 2004, it found a permanent home in North Ballard where the Company and the School share 9,000 sq feet of studios, dressing rooms, and offices.
Saturday, October 19 ARC will welcome the public to their home in Ballard. This fundraiser is a directed giving campaign to meet ARC's 2013 fund drive goals.
Complete with local band The Onlies (Riley Calcagno, Samantha Braman, Leo Shannon, and RuthMabel Boyntz on fiddles, guitar, mandolin, and bass) and local Caller Sherry Nevins, it is sure to be a fun time for all. There will also be a carved pumpkin contest and costume contest. Refreshments will be served to keep the hoofin and good times rollin'!

ARC Dance Scholarship - Goal $4,000 This is the general fund for students attending the Children's, Student's, and Summer Dance programs. The fund has helped reduce tuition costs for over 108 dancers since 2005.
Rising Star Scholarship - Goal $6,000 Established by Arc student, Hannah Wist, in 2011, this fund is specifically designed to provide financial assistance to Intermediate Level dancers ages 11-16 years--the future Rising Stars of ARC. ARC Dance, Barn Dance Social, page 2
Julia Harig Scholarship - Goal $10,000 This fund honors Julia Harig's contribution to ARC and her ambition to pursue advance training in the Pre-Professional Mentor Program. After her diagnosis with Leukemia in 2006, per her wishes, the Julia Harig Scholarship has helped eight pre-professional dancers pursue their dreams of a career in dance.
ARC Sustain Support Fund - Goal $100,000 Without ARC Dance Productions, our education programs, facility, and performance opportunities would not exist. This fund provides the following: Arc Youth Dance Company and Arc School of Ballet's performance opportunities, ARC Dance Company's daily operations of our facility, theater costs, professional dancers, costumes, choreographers, musicians, sets, staff, marketing, and theater supplies.

ARC prsents dance education programs, performances, and a resident professional dance company (ARC Dance Company). Since 1999, under the artistic direction of Marie Chong, ARC has produced performances seen by over 20,000 people in standard theater venues with seating capacities of 300 to 2500.
The professional ARC Dance Company, presents a regular performance season at the Bagley Wright/Leo K Theatre at the Seattle Center along with Arc Youth Dance Company, the performing company of Arc School of Ballet.
More About local Caller Sherry Nevins Sherry Nevins, dance caller resides in Seattle where she has had great fun calling traditional square dances since 1977 and contra dances since 1980, also occasionally teaching couple dance workshops (waltz, polka, schottische, and beginning East Coast swing). She began coordinating community dances in Seattle in 1979. She especially enjoys calling at Family Dance events where adults and children of all ages participate together. She has taught at several dance camps, including Camp Wannadance, Pinewoods, Chehalis, Suttle Lake, Bear Hug, Let's Dance, and the BACDS and Lady of the Lake Family Weeks. She is particularly adept at calling for weddings and birthday celebrations; school, church, and club parties; festivals, fairs and all kinds of events where dancers with varied levels of experience and inexperience come together. Her informal style and boundless enthusiasm, combined with clear teaching and a varied, lively repetoire ensure a satisfying dance experience for all!
More About The Onlies The Onlies play original and traditional fiddle-driven music, with Celtic, old-time American, and Canadian roots. Members Leo Shannon, Riley Calcagno, and Samantha Braman are Garfield High freshmen who've literally played together since birth. Singing and playing fiddle, guitar, mandolin, banjo, and piano, they have developed a strong fan base throughout the Pacific Northwest, performing concerts, square and contra dances, and pub gigs from Port Townsend to Portland, Ore. Since 2011 they have been thrilled to have RuthMabel Boytz, a fantastic string bass player, joining them for dances and other projects.

Since its inception in 1999, ARC has performed works by nationally recognized and emerging choreographers in a regular performance season from July through December.
More about Arc Youth Dance Company ARC Dance Productions, in association with Arc School of Ballet, launched the Arc Youth Dance Company (AYDC) in 2013. It offers artistic and personal growth to dancers ages 11-20 years old who seek further artistic excellence in dance performance. AYDC members are students of Arc School of Ballet (ASB) in the Intermediate level or higher as selected by annual audition.
More about Arc School of Ballet Arc School of Ballet provides personalized ballet training in an atmosphere that promotes personal and artistic growth. Focusing on elements of both classical and contemporary ballet technique from the classic French, Italian, and Russian Schools of training, the core curriculum at Arc School of Ballet (ASB) provides dancers with a broad knowledge of classical technique and the comprehension to adapt to all current ballet styles and techniques.
Arc School of Ballet offers four coordinated, high-quality programs to dancers of all ages and backgrounds. The variety of classes works to meet students' varying interests in dance, ranging from children's creative movement and beginning ballet to adult education/fitness to specialized professional-career-bound training.
Arc School of Ballet opened its doors in July 2004. The school provides individual attention to students through limited class sizes. It focuses on classical ballet and offers a professional dance career preparation program. Its training regime is consistent with the stylistic requirements of ARC Dance Company, the resident professional dance company.
Since 2004, Arc School of Ballet has educated over 1500 dancers who are ongoing dance ambassadors, working with and supporting professional performing companies beyond their time at ARC.
Graduates of Arc School of Ballet have gone on to dance with the following organizations: Alvin Ailey School, Alberta Ballet, American Ballet Theater/JKO School, Ballet Austin, Pacific Northwest Ballet School, Boston Ballet, Nevada Dance Theater, Cirque du Soleil, School of American Ballet, Ballet Tucson, San Francisco Ballet School, Joffrey Ballet, Milwaukee Ballet, San Diego Ballet, Nashville Ballet, North Carolina School of the Arts, Alonzo King's Lines Ballet, Princeton Ballet, The Juilliard School, San Francisco Conservatory of Dance, City Ballet of San Diego, Mark Morris Dance Company, Penninsula Dance Theater, and ARC Dance Company.
