Teen Benefit for Australia
News of the wildfires raging across Australia - the scorched earth, dead animals, and the human-caused climate change that made this catastrophic fire possible - are very much on young people's minds. So much so that the teens of the Faith & Justice Leadership Lab, an interfaith group based at South Presbyterian Church in Dobbs Ferry, NY, voted to host a fundraiser to benefit Australian fire-relief.
Please come to the Teen Benefit for Australia on Saturday, February 8!
You'll enjoy dinner with friends and over a dozen performances by talented Rivertowns teens. All proceeds will be donated directly to the Cobargo Wildlife Sanctuary, a refuge for kangaroos, wallabies and wombats that was burnt to the ground. Plus, you will be supporting local teens creative expression and journey to becoming change-makers.
The evening will be emceed by Bee Herbtsmann and Zachary Navarrete. Singers include Sophia Rae Epstein, the trio of Josie Rohan / Kate Jones / Naomi Van Hoogstraten, the Dobbs Ferry High School Octet, Hastings Boys Band, and Adam Galland and Felix Danishmend, guitar and vocals. Instrumental performances include Jake Kubina, piano; Richard Ackerman, viola; and Stanley Legan's Combo. Lila Sterling returns to dance for us!
Dinner includes a winter salad, "Chicken Melbourne," "Outback Potatoes," "Brisbane Broccoli," brownies and ice cream. Bring your own wine or beer. Thank you chefs Peter Brenner, Eric Greenberg, and Alex Orlowski!

This is the 3rd annual Teen Benefit. In 2018, South Church's teen group raised over $3,000 for hurricane relief in Puerto Rico. Last year, they raised $2000 for teen service project scholarships.

Faith & Justice Leadership Lab is a K-12 program that integrates faith and justice and makes space for new connections, weaving together a more integrated community for the sake of all.
For the teenage years in particular, the goal is to nurture the confidence, skills, joy, and collective leadership of young people while offering them opportunities to be part of the change they want to see in the world.
Teens and leaders meet monthly for team-building challenges, cooking and eating together, volunteering for local helping organizations, and developing relationships with adults who share what's important to them. Opportunities for service trips happen once or twice a year.
All are welcome. Email: learninglab@southpres.org To learn more about the Fath & Justice Learning Lab: southpres.org/learninglab/
