2008 Bent Mentor Showcase with Kate Bornstein
Each year Bent takes the stage to show their latest work and honor an established mentor who has inspired them to write, perform, and live as artists.
Bent students will pierce your hearts and bust your assumptions with their poetry, prose, and genre-defying spoken word. If you're not crying, laughing, or calling your estranged mother by the end of the performance, you're not breathing.
This year's mentor is Kate Bornstein. Author, playwright, and performance artist, Bormstein is the author of the acclaimed Hello Cruel World: 101 Alternatives to Suicide for Teens, Freaks, and Other Outlaws and other groundbreaking books about sex, gender, and postmodern theory. Kate's books are taught in over 120 colleges and universities around the world; and ze has performed hir work live on college campuses, and in theaters and performance spaces across the USA, as well as in Canada, the United Kingdom, Germany, and Austria.
