Happy Happy Happy! Acrylic Workshop
$65 ($60 Nash Arts Members) Supplies Provided.
Johns original home was Weeping Water, Nebraska. Having a career in management at Potash Corp in Aurora, NC, his desire to participate in the creative arts came to fruition upon his retirement.
His artistic tools include acrylic paint, large canvas, and a variety of palette knives and brushes. His creative energy shines through bold colors and highly textured paintings. John has won numerous awards, has been published in three books, and is represented at Riverwalk Gallery in Washington, NC. His work can also be found in Ironwood Golf & Country Club in Greenville, NC. He has been a resident artist in several cities, and his paintings have been sought after by corporations as well as private collectors.
By using bright colors, strong lines, thick paint, and energetic application, John seeks to portray an emotional response to the subject being painted, rather than creating a perfect replica. He paints floral and still life to landscapes and people, some completed en plein air. While the subjects are recognizable, many of his works lean towards abstract. Yet the harmonious, vivid colors continue to evoke the peace and excitement he finds in of his painted subjects.
The Nash County Arts Council will be hosting Johns Happy Happy Happy Acrylic Workshop on Monday evening, March 16th from 6-9PM. Cost for the workshop is $65 ($60 Nash Arts members), with expertise, instruction, and supplies provided by the artist. Call Shelly Gray at 252-459-4734 (or email sgray@nasharts.org) to register.
