The LIVE MUSIC MOVEMENT FOUNDATION will host the first pop-up event for the new year with Down Home Day! 2020. This is a family-friendly event with free admission.
Music will be provided by Cassandra Tyson & Company. Cassandra Tyson is a lover of all types of music. In addition to jazz, she enjoys R&B, hip-hop and blues. She sat in with various bands around the San Antonio area honing her craft. Upon moving to Houston, she signed up for a Jazz Ensemble class and a love affair with jazz music began. Her favorite artists are Sarah Vaughan and Ella Fitzgerald. Cassandra has been featured in several singing competitions including Gimme the Mike as well as an appearance on Showtime at the Apollo. She formed her own band Cassandra & Company and is a regular on the Houston jazz scene.
Skilled musicians and singers are welcome to 'sit in' during this event.
Bring your appetite for delicious barbecue and peach cobbler (for purchase). Beer and wine are now available. Also bring your bid-whist partner and your dominoes, UNO or Skip-Bo expertise. FAMILY FRIENDLY EVENT.
