Many Loves
Caffeine Theatre begins their fifth season with MANY LOVES, a rarely-produced drama by William Carlos Williams. In this darkly funny exploration of human relations and worldly restraints, the young director Hubert is torn between his leading lady and his older benefactor Peter. Yet Hubert is mostly in love with his play, and with his conviction that art can change the world. First performed by the Living Theatre in 1959, MANY LOVES is re-imagined by acclaimed director Joanie Schultz. William Carlos Williams, a country doctor, is often called the "father of American poetry" for his poems about plums and the red wheelbarrow. Caffeine Theatre is pleased to present MANY LOVES in honor of his 125th birthday.
