Songwriters on Stage
Tues Feb 4 | 7pm General Admission | $10
Each month, the Maine Songwriters Association presents Songwriters on Stage, a showcase of some of the best songwriters Maine has to offer. Its an opportunity for listeners to discover new music or come hear local favorites in one of the best listening rooms in Maine. This installment will feature Ben Hunsberger, Robby Simpson, Heather Hardy, and Emilia Dahlin.
Ben Hunsberger
Blending a lifelong passion for music with his unique perspectives on life, love, politics, and nature, Bens music is seasoned with flavors of Jackson Browne and The Beatles, and echoes of Brubeck and Mose Allison. Clear vocals backed by keyboard and guitar highlight his live performances. Ben has played with many well-known area musicians including Ted DeMille, Magic 8 Ball, Leopard Girls, Jenny Lou Drew, and Jud Caswell. He has recorded eight original albums, and his latest effort, New Paint, is now available at cdbaby.com, Apple music, and your favorite streaming services.
Robby Simpson
Robby Simpson is a songwriter from Midcoast Maine. His style of songwriting is much akin to wooden boats; in that the wooden boat is less commonly used these days- but there are those for whom the old simplicity still calls. Robby plays largely along the coast from Portland to MDI and inland to central Maine. He lives on the Kennebec with his family and works as a carpenter for the day times.
Heather Hardy
Winner of the 2013 Maine Songwriting Competition and 2nd place winner of the 2012 New England Songwriting Contest, Heather Hardy is a singer-songwriter living in Bristol, Maine. She plays guitar and ukulele, and blends her unique voice with rich melodies. She teaches songwriting, guitar and ukulele for all ages.
Emilia Dahlin
Emilia Dahlin has strong storytelling sensibilities, which carve out Dahlins reputation as a unique songstress. She weaves mesmerizing tales with raw, rootsy folk and dynamic jazz vocals. Throughout an eighteen-year musical performing career taking her around the world, she has made Maine her home. Emilia garnered national awards, from Telluride Troubadour, Winner of the Starbucks Music Makers Competition, Winner of Boston Music Conference Songwriting Competition, and the Great Waters Songwriting Contest. She believes music and storytelling are some of the most powerful tools to foster connection between people and create positive social change.
