Gris Literatura Presents: Masters of Poetry
Part of the Gris Literatura event series, Masters of Poetry is for writers looking to get out of their comfort zones and experiment with new approaches. Each class is focused on one poet or poetic genre and begins with a brief lecture. Next, we'll read a few poems and discuss them, unpacking poetic methods and stylistic choices. This is followed by a half hour of writing, and finally, informal workshopping for those who would like to share and receive feedback. In two hours, participants will dive deeply into one poet's body of work or one specific genre, and hopefully emerge with a draft of a new poem inspired by what they have learned.
Taught by Katie Vagnino, MFA (katievagnino.com) and David Bayliss (Founder, Gris Literatura)
Offered on the 1st Wednesday of the month from 6-8pm; upcoming dates and topics:
May 6: Olena Kalytiak Davis June 3: Ekphrastic poetry July 1: William Carlos Williams
