The Visit is a work-in-progress interdisciplinary performance project that utilizes performance, tap, visual art and audio to engulf audiences in the experiences of family and supporters of US held political prisoners from the Black Liberation movement. In current discourse on mass incarceration and the prison industrial complex, what is often omitted are the narratives of those who encounter these issues personally on the day-to-day. "The Visit" will feature an excerpt from "My First Born," a solo performance by K'Sisay Sadiki, daughter of US held political prisoner Kamau Sadiki. The Visit is an excerpt from the TO BE FREE PROJECT, a ten-year portrait project that exposes the stories of political prisoners in the United States who were jailed for their activism in the 1960s and 1970s and advocates for their freedom.
