Our first Steinway Chamber Concert of the season features two wonderful young performers.
Avanti Future Stars Junior Division winner, pianist Jessica Zhang, who will be
the featured soloist in our October orchestra concert, is a 10 year old fifth-grader at
BASIS School Chandler. She's also been first-prize winner at the 2013 Arizona Young Artist Piano Competition, the 2012 DVMTA Piano Competition and EVMTA Piano Competition. Jessica has studied with Fei Xu since age six.
Flavia Pajaro-van de Stadt began studying the violin when she was 3 years old and piano when she was 8. She is a member of the Phoenix Youth Symphony, and served as its concertmaster this past spring. She hopes to pursue a career in music, and for the last two years she's studied violin with Dr. Katherine McLin and piano with Dr. Baruch Meir, both at ASU. Flavia will play works by Bach, Mozart, and Dvořák.
