Celtic concert: Dave Curley, Ashley Davis, and Colin Farrell
By merging their respective skills and personal musical heritages over the last few years, Dave Curley, Ashley Davis, and Colin Farrell have been warming the hearts and charming the ears of audiences on both sides of the Atlantic. We are very fortunate to have this sparkling constellation of performers - some of Celtic musics most dedicated and successful proponents - coming to play for us in Gainesville on Sunday, January 19th 2020. Dave Curley is one of Irelands leading multi-instrumentalists and vocalists, as well as a champion step dancer.

Dave Curley is one of Irelands leading multi-instrumentalists and vocalists, as well as a champion step dancer. Hailing from County Galway on the west coast of Ireland, Curley has brought his wealth of talents to the largest of stages in North America and Western Europe. He has performed at the prestigious Ryman Auditorium in Nashville, Tennessee; recorded with Grammy award winners Ron Block, Jeff Taylor, and Buddy Greene; and toured with Grammy award winner Moya Brennan of Clannad. For 10 years, Curley has worked with the lauded traditional super group Slide, and also spent five successful years with the award winning American Roots band Runa. His work with Tadhg O Meachair and Joanna Hyde on their album One For the Foxes has resulted in collaborations before audiences in North America, including an appearance earlier this year in Gainesville (where he has performed with fiddler Finn Magill, as well). Curley also is an integral member of the new Crannua Collective, featuring Moya Brennan, John Doyle, Ashley Davis, Mick McCauley, Eamonn and Cormac DeBarra, Colin Farrell, and Cathy Jordan.

Ashley Davis's musical passport offers a rich display of colorful stamps from Ireland and Scotland. However, this vibrant recording artist and songwriter also draws heavily from the influences of her birthplace, the Kansas plains, and the country music traditions of the Appalachian Mountains. Davis has collaborated with such musical luminaries as the Chieftains Paddy Moloney, fiddle player Eileen Ivers, harpist Cormac De Barra, singer-songwriters John Doyle and John Spillane, and the First Lady of Celtic Music, Moya Brennan. Throughout her career, Davis has, to quote NBCs Today Show co-host Meredith Vieira, thrilled audiences with new music springing from ancient roots. But in a greater sense, she has become a pioneer, navigating new frontiers and sharing her genre-defying musical vision with an ever-increasing fan base.

Colin Farrell was born in Manchester, England, to very musical parents from Irelands County Galway and County Cavan. He started playing the fiddle and tin-whistle at an early age, winning numerous titles at the Fleadh Cheoil. Farrell has been touring Europe and the United States with bands and performers that include Flook, Grada, Karen Casey, John Doyle, Tim OBrien, The Elders, Julie Fowlis, and The Michael McGoldrick Band. Farrell currently plays with the venerated Irish band Lunasa and the Crannua Collective. His 2010 solo debut album On The Move was named one of the years 10 best albums by The Irish Echo; and his second album, Make A Note, released in 2015, was awarded Instrumental Album of the Year by liveIreland.
