"Reawakening, The
Native American attorney Robert Doctor has made a successful life for himself in New York City, miles away from his home on the Onondaga Nation. He loves his affiuent lifestyle and the admiration of his fellow attorneys at the firm where he is on track to become a partner. He has effectively mainstreamed to a point where no one in his work considers him an Indian. His life is perfect now except for recurring visions of a sinister dark spirit, an unwanted visitor from the reservation he left 15 years ago when his grandfather, a chief, was mysteriously murdered. Doctor is thrust back into reservation matters when he is asked by a tribal elder to represent his childhood friend who is accused of murdering a prison guard. His life becomes more complicated when his firm asks him to represent a new client with ambitions to open a casino on the Onondaga Nation. Going back to the Nation to prepare for David's defense and sell the elders on the casino, Doctor faces a dilemma. The choice he makes will be between his own ambition and the enduring traditions of his people.
