consonari (Anna Johnson, violin and Kaden Larson, piano) presents an evening of musical hope and progress, through the works of Grieg, Beach and Messiaen, as well as original works.
consonari was formed in 2019 by violinist Anna Johnson and pianist Kaden Larson while studying at the Indiana University Jacobs School of Music. Both accomplished soloists and avid collaborative artists, Anna and Kaden frequently join forces with other musicians to explore new collaboration, outreach, and creativity.
Kaden Larson (Salt Lake City, UT) began playing piano at age three as a therapeutic activity to help fight a severely crippling case of Juvenile Rheumatoid Arthritis. What began as a trial has now become a triumph. Kaden is an avid recitalist and loves to share music with audiences of all backgrounds. He regularly gives recitals throughout his home state of Utah, and has also performed in locations as far as Vienna, Dublin, California, Texas, and Indiana. Kaden has soloed with the Oquirrh Mountain Symphony, Utah Philharmonic Orchestra, Symphony Orchestra of Brigham Young University, and the BYU Philharmonic, among others. He earned his BM in Piano Performance from BYU, studying with Dr. Scott Holden, and recently completed a Master of Music degree at the Indiana University Jacobs School of Music, with Norman Krieger. Active as a student, performer, collaborative artist, and teacher, Kaden is a founding member of the Ensign Piano Quartet, a frequent presenter at piano pedagogy conferences, and is currently in the process of doctorate applications. Anna Johnson (Seattle, WA) received a BM in Violin Performance from Indiana University where she studied with Grigory Kalinovsky. Other mentors have included Jan Coleman, Simon James, and Hiro David. Beginning her musical studies at a young age, Anna started with the piano, but it was a passion for the violin that led her to pursue a life of music. She enjoys playing in many settings, and is a frequent orchestral and chamber musician, as well as a studio musician and soloist. She has participated in multiple music festivals, including the Fairbanks Summer Arts Festival, where she performed concertos with orchestra in 2015 and 2016; the Philadelphia International Music Festival, where she received Honorable Mention in the Concerto Competition in 2017; the Pacific Region International Summer Music Academy, and ARIA International Summer Academy. She appears in the orchestral tracks on Jennifer Thomas most recent album The Fire Within. Anna currently holds the position of Assistant Concertmaster of the Ensign Symphony, records for her YouTube channel, and enjoys mentoring young violinists.
