Newberry and Verch (USA/Canada)
Joe Newberry and April Verch are both master musicians, and their Canadian/American duo collaboration is fuelled by a shared passion for traditional music. Newberry and Verch perform an entertaining blend of folk, bluegrass and old time Americana, with ballads, joyful fiddle tunes and poignant original and traditional songs.
Joe Newberry is an outstanding clawhammer banjo player, singer, songwriter and guitarist. He was a guest star on 2016s Transatlantic Sessions live tour in 2016 and his award-winning songs have been recorded by top artists including Ricky Skaggs and the Gibson Brothers. Joe also performs with other projects including his duo with mandolin legend Mike Compton. Joe is a hugely charismatic performer who charms audiences wherever he goes.
April Verch is a world class fiddle player, step dancer and singer from Canadas Ottawa Valley, who started step dancing at age three and playing the fiddle at age six! April has countless awards, ten albums and over eighteen years of worldwide touring under her belt with her trio the April Verch Band. These two hugely talented musicians came together several years ago for this very special duo project and released the debut Newberry & Verch album in 2017. Their voices blend in harmony, their instrumental playing is unsurpassed, and the addition of Aprils spectacular step dancing takes their performance to another level!
