"Wonder Women": Classical Music Moments
Back in the day, female baroque composers were rather thin on the ground; before Xena & Wonder Woman, we had Elisabeth Jacquet de la Guerre & Isabella Leonarda.
Join Ensemble Leonarda in exploring extraordinary works by extraordinary women. Featuring Jacquet de la Guerre's "Le Sommeil d'Ulisse", with live-action drawings by New Yorker cartoonist Victor Varnado. Ensemble Leonarda is pleased to be collaborating with composer Elizabeth Brown on a new work for baroque band, voice, and shamisen, "A Glimpse at Dawn", on a text by Otomae (1085-1169).
This is a 1-hour concert, no intermission. www.ensembleleonarda.com/events
