Camera UnObscura Workshop
In conjunction with Whatcom Reads, join us as we explore early photographic technology, similar to that used by Eowyn Ivey in her book "To the Bright Edge of the World." In this intergenerational workshop, participants will learn about the beginnings of photography and build their own camera obscura. Fun for ages 8 to 80 (and beyond!). All materials provided. Maximum class size is 12 people.
We'll provide the pieces to create a two-lens camera obscura with a removable screen. Participants will mix their own blueprint paper and let it dry. Each participant will get to take home their camera and paper to make their very own cyanotype photos.
"Because the Whatcom Museum is a non-profit and this event is a fund raiser (with hard costs to the Museum Foundation), we are not able to provide refunds."
