French Baroque? Oui! Oui!
La Follia performs French Baroque chamber music by Couperin, Rameau, Jacquet de la Guerre, Campra, Clerambault, Charpentier, Robert de Visée, and Boësset.
Performing are Jenifer Thyssen, soprano, Stephen Redfield, violin, Marcus McGuff. flute, Eric Smith, viola da gamba, Arash Noori, theorbo, and Keith Womer, harpsichord. Jeffrey Blair from KMFA Classical 89.5 will provide commentary during the concert.
This event is part of the French Cultures Festival coordinated by the Cultural Service of the French Embassy in Houston, TX. Note: This March 14 concert will be at Redeemer Presbyterian Church in Austin. The March 15 concert will be at First Presbyterian Church in Austin
About the March 14 venue: Redeemer Presbyterian Church is located in the revitalized area of East Austin, not far from the Metrorail MLK station and not far from the Mueller development across Airport Boulevard. There is free, ample and safe parking adjacent to the church. The venue offers excellent acoustics and sight lines, and is ADA compliant.
About La Follia: La Follia was founded in 1980, making it one of the oldest chamber ensembles of any kind in Austin. Among its numerous awards are three concerts cited as one of ten best classical music events of the year, as well as the 2016 Austin Critics Table award for Ensemble Performance.
