Tetrachromat, You May Die In The Desert, XSUNS
Tetrachromat is a 4-piece experimental metal band hailing from the Pacific Northwest. The quartet employ extended range instruments and layered guitar effects in their writing and performance, transcending the natural limits of standard-scale instruments.
Tetrachromat consists of 8-string guitarist Frank Rowland, 6-string guitarist Nathan Malick, 5-string bassist Ethan Wilson and drummer Josh Pehrson. The band's sound is due in large part to influences and inspiration from contemporary progressive metal and experimental music, which both seek to blend a variety of different styles of music together into a single form.
You.May.Die.In.The.Desert is a three-piece instrumental band from Seattle, WA. The trio are a tight knit machine that create chaotic, cinematic, and progressive music.
You.May.Die.In.The.Desert latest release, International Waters, is by far their most mature and refined album to date. The album takes the listener on a dynamic journey blurs musical boundaries. The album reflects the last several years of traveling the world, making new friends, and sustaining relationships. YMDITD have released three other albums, Bears in the Yukon, and Harmonic Motion: Volume I (a split record with Gifts From Enola), and in 2010 they self-released an EP, titled International Waters E.P.. Bears in the Yukon was originally released in Japan by Zankyo Records and more recently in the USA by The Mylene Sheath.
XSUNS was formed in 2009 by Trent McIntyre, Adam Tricoli, and Keith Furtado in Seattle, Washington. They started playing live in 2010, and released their self-titled debut in January of 2012. In the same year they added Skippy King (of Seattle band Patrol) as a second guitarist. Later that year, Keith Furtado quit the band, and was replaced by Richard Burkett (of GIZA). This new lineup released "The Greys" EP in October of 2013. Prior to the release, Richard Burkett quit the band, and was replaced by Erick Hohnstein-Von Etten. This new lineup started writing new material, and played extensively around the Northwest. They shared the stage with bands such as Pelican, Tombs, And So I Watch You From Afar, Junius, Bearcubbin'!, and many others. In December of 2014, they recorded a 4 song EP with Chris Mathews Jr., titled "III", which was mixed by Matt Bayles (Isis, Mastodon, Minus The Bear, etc.). Shortly after, Erick parted ways with the band and was replaced by Jared Burke Eglington, formerly of the Seattle band Akimbo. "III" was released in October of 2015, and the band supported the release with a West Coast tour. In 2016, Devils Child Records released their second and third EPs on Vinyl, and the band recorded two new songs with Matt Bayles. 2016 also saw them opening for Battles, If These Trees Could Talk, Driftoff, and Spotlights. In 2017, they self-released the 2 new songs on a 7 inch titled "Strawberry Mansion/Twelve Hours", and toured the West Coast again. They are currently writing songs for their first full-length.
