Cathy's "Best of 13" - With Otmaro Ruiz and Carey Frank.

At The G Spot, home concert venue, in Highland Park.

Starting in 1980, I started recording my own CDs, and just finished my 13th. Singing standards and originals, I involved the wonderful jazz musicians I was surrounded and befriended by, throughout the years.

As Im prone to do, I have been looking at my creative output, and desired to bring the past created material forward to the present. As a lot of you know, you work hard on a project, complete it, and then it tends to fade into the background.

And so, I was considering doing a performing project for each recorded project and each special performing project Ive done. I still like this idea, and I think its a good plan for future gigs. But then my good friend, Dan Davilla, suggested this action to meand I loved it!

I am creating a series - Best of 13. This show is #1, and I plan to continue this idea as long as I want, with whomever I want, at whatever times I want, picking whatever songs off of each project that I want to!

One of the best pianists Ive ever known of is Otmaro Ruiz. Hes just plain brilliant! Im joyful and honored to play and create with him!

And the swinging-est B3 player, Carey Frank is our partner in fun here! Im excited to have this wonderful trio create together!
