A little more about the work and company:
Mark Tomasic's theatrical work pushes the company into overdrive as seven dancers explore the heartbreak, hysterics and temporary insanity that love sometimes provides. The gut-wrenching, hip-swaying neo-soul music of Clairy Browne & The Bangin' Rackettes fuels the engine for this high velocity romp.
Andrew Pearson's precision piece, featuring original music by Kevin DeKimpe, uses gesture and spatial patterning to create a new age minuet investigating the inner-workings of relationships as partners are swapped in a mechanical fashion. The calculated exchanges do not always go as planned, leading to dysfunction and disorder in the group.
Melissa 'MJ' Jackson's trio of spidery limbs and stunning partnered sequences deals with the process of letting your mind be influenced by outside forces to the point of relinquishing all control and submitting your body to the experience.
Kate Hutter's latest creation looks at our identity and lineage to dictate the creative musings of our minds. For Hutter, she considers how her seemingly bland heritage as a Caucasian female from Carson City, Nevada plays into and against the expectations placed on her work, and where do the complexities of each of our characters lie outside the boxes on a census.
