CANCELED - Jesus Christ Superstar - Tophat Miniature Stage Productions
David Worobec of Tophat Miniature Stage Productions brings back, just in time for Easter, his one-man miniature stage performance of the powerful and controversial rock opera, Jesus Christ Superstar. This Andrew Lloyd Webber and Tim Rice rock-opera masterpiece, tells the story of the last week in the life of Jesus of Nazareth, as seen through the eyes of the apostle famous (or infamous?) for betraying Jesus, Judas Iscariot. Come see David Worobec take on this challenging piece as he sings and acts out all the characters with 5" action figure cast.
About David Worobec and Tophat Productions
Tophat's founder and principal artist, David Worobec, is a classically-trained Opera singer and a talented pianist. David, Tenor, graduated from The Boston Conservatory of Music in 2011 with a degree in vocal performance with Opera emphasis, in the studio of Victor Jannett. He has sung and performed since the age of 4 and loves to entertain family and friends with one-man toy theater productions of his favorite musicals. Before he discovered the Victorian toy theaters, his characters acted on improvised miniature theaters built by his mother. His musical debut took place three years later when he was featured in the title role of Boston Bel Canto Opera's production of Menotti's Amahl & The Night Visitors. Many productions with companies such as Boston Bel Canto Opera and at the Boston Conservatory followed. Past productions include South Pacific, Camelot, Jesus Christ Superstar, Sweeney Todd, Little Shop of Horrors, Jekyll & Hyde, Les Miserables, Guys & Dolls, Kiss Me Kate and Brigadoon. New shows are always in the works so stay tuned to tophatshows.com!
David is Portland, Maine's premier expert and practitioner of the art of miniature theater. Highly popular in the late-18th and 19th centuries, miniature theater delivers visually-stunning renditions of popular stage shows on a micro scale. Shows take place within the confines of a tiny stage, just a couple of feet tall, complete with curtains, sophisticated lighting, and impeccably detailed props and stage sets. Everything, including dialogue, stage movements, and musical numbers are performed live, in real time. The result: a visual and auditory marvel that is well worth an evening out.
