Afrofunk Experience
Afrofunk Experience "Chunky rhythms mixed with tasty funk-to-metal guitar grooves and blazing horns create the deep soul sound of the Afrofunk Experience," says the band. Currently, the 8-piece band consists of Sandy House-vocals/percussion; David Boyce saxophone; Alan Williams- trombone; David James- guitar/vocals; Ken House - guitar/vocals; Brandon Lee- percussion (Congas djembe various hand percussion); Paul Oliphant- drum kit; Wendell Rand - bass The Afrofunk Experience, recent winners of The NAACP Image Award's Outstanding World Music Album "Black President" and winners of The SF Weekly Music Award's Best International Act, were the band behind Sila and the Afrofunk Experience for 7 years, providing songs and killer grooves for Victor Sila Mutungi, and being dubbed "The Bay Area's Dance Kings" in the process. After a decision to part with Sila, AFE transformed itself into the Funk music powerhouse that now tours the West Coast of the United States delivering home grown AFROFUNK, AFROBEAT, REGGAE, AND ORIGINAL BAY AREA FUNK. The ensemble's well-balanced instrumentation of dual guitars, bass, drums, percussion, trumpet, and saxophone ensures a wide dynamic range.
