Writing a novel, short story, play, or screenplay is all about getting from point A to point B, but trying to fill in the journey from beginning to end is a daunting task. This class will tackle the building blocks of that journey, the smaller and more digestible scene. The scene is an individual story unit that, when linked effectively to other scenes: moves the story forward, establishes characters arcs or cause and effect, reveals consequences of earlier events, and makes the story easier to follow. The class will examine how to structure a scene and how to use scenes and sequels to pace your story properly and logically.
