Storytelling: The Art of Crafting Fiction is an introduction to creative writing that is appropriate for all levels; it's for anyone who wishes to pursue writing as a creative outlet. Although the focus is fiction writing this class will also be helpful to the creative non-fiction writer, as we will address topics pertinent to all forms of creative writing. Class hours will be spent sharing information, ideas and writing.
About the Instructor: Emily Carr writes murder mysteries that turn into love poems that are sometimes (by her McSweeneys editors, for example) called divorce poems. After she got an MFA in poetry from the University of North Carolina-Wilmington, she took a doctorate in ecopoetics at the University of Calgary. These days, shes Assistant Professor of Creative Writing at the New College of Florida. Her newest book, whosoever has let a minotaur enter them, or a sonnet, is available from McSweeneys. It inspired a beer of the same name, now available at the Ale Apothecary. Emilys Tarot Romance, Name Your Bird Without A Gun, is forthcoming from Spork in 2020.
