An estimated 400,000 numbers were tattooed on Auschwitz prisoners; only several thousand survivors are alive today. Numbered is an emotional journey guided by testimonies and portraits of survivors whose perspectives vary widely. The film recalls the dark time during which the tattoos were assigned as well as the meaning they took on in the years following the war and their symbolism for the survivors' children and grandchildren.
