Ceremonies in Dark Old Men
Criminal activities, romantic distractions, and poor business choices lead to successful but tragic results. This is a timeless classic that is still relevant today. Supported in part by the Arts and Humanities Council of Montgomery County (AHCMC).
The setting is a floundering barber shop on 126th Street in Harlem. The barber shop provides a space where dark old men can be insulated from a society in which they have failed under the norms of a capitalist and racist culture.
The language in this play is strong and riveting. Therefore, it is not recommended for elementary or middle age school students.
