Join us as Kurt Matsumoto, COO, shares the vision of Pulama Lana'i and their commitment to environmental, cultural and economic prosperity across a balanced platform of conservation, preservation, education, energy, hospitality, social services, health care, business development and community life.

Mr. Matsumoto leads a diverse management team that works with the Lana'i community to build sustainable commerce, energy, conservation, health care, housing, education and hospitality initiatives.  

He is a third generation Lana'i resident and a seasoned executive in the hospitality industry. Kurt's experience spans resort development, land use, resort management and community-building.

Prior to joining Lana'i Resorts, Kurt was General Manager of Operations for Kukui'ula Development Company Hawai'i on the island of Kaua'i, where he oversaw planning and design through to the opening and operation of the Private Club. Kurt also served as General Manager of the Mauna Lani Bay Hotel.

Kurt opened the Manele Bay Hotel, working with the community in the early 1990s on the development of the resort. Over the ensuing 10 years, Kurt went on to manage both The Lodge at Ko`ele and Manele Bay Hotel as VP of Resort Operations. Earlier in his career, he spent 10 years with Hyatt Hotels, in management roles in six cities, and with Rock Resorts in the British Virgin Islands.

Kurt was born and raised on Lāna'i and obtained a bachelor's degree in Hotel Management from Oregon State University. He has served on the Hawai`i Island Visitors Bureau, the West Hawai`i Chamber of Commerce, the Hawai`i Island Visitors Bureau, Kaua`i Visitor's Bureau and the Hawai`i Lodging Association and is currently on the Board of the Historic Hawai`i Foundation.

Pacific Club dress code policy: Business, Business Casual, and Aloha Attire are acceptable for both men and women. Jeans, shorts, collarless shirts, gym shoes, rubber slippers, open toed shoes for men, and any other clothing that would be considered revealing are not permitted.
