Listen Locally The Lady Swings!
The Music of Pittsburghs own Maxine Sullivan
Known as the pint-sized songstress, Maxine Sullivan originated the soft vocal swing style that paved the way for artists like Ella Fitzgerald, Sarah Vaughan and Peggy Lee.
Jessica Lee pays tribute to the woman who put the "ing" in "swing," with tunes that Sullivan made famous as well as favorites by the women who were influenced by her.
This performance will feature guitar great Mark Strickland, saxophonist Lou Stellute and George Jones, percussion - as they explore Jazz, Blues, Swing & Big Band repertoire as influenced in the music's formative years by Pittsburgh's own swing vocal innovator - Maxine Sullivan.
