Vancouver Youth Choir presents "Flight"
Vancouver Youth Choir's award winning senior choir presents FLIGHT.
The Vancouver Youth Choir has fast emerged as one of the most active and highly regarded youth choral organizations in the Lower Mainland. In addition to its regular sold-out season concerts, VYC has been featured multiple times on CBC radio, performed jointly with major professional and semi-professional choirs in the city, participated in Vancouver's PuSh International Performing Arts Festival in 2017, and in March 2018 presented workshops and performances with Grammy Award winning conductor, Charles Bruffy. Throughout the year, in season and out, the choir performs at numerous community and charity events. Our senior choir serves regularly as a headliner choir at the Cantando Music Festival (Whistler and Sun Peaks). Nationally, they are now recognized as one of the finest youth ensembles in Canada, recently winning first prize in their category in the 2017 National Competition for Canadian Amateur Choirs. VYCs international reputation is growing, as well: the choir represented Canada at the 2016 International Choral Festival in Missoula (Montana), and, in July 2018, it performed by invitation at the Festival International Choral en Provence (FR), and the Alba Classical Music Festival (IT). Last February, the choir performed at the 60th anniversary convention of the American Choral Directors Association (ACDA). ACDA is the preeminent choral organization in North America, comprised of some 22,000 choral conductors representing over a million singers. VYC was one of 26 invited choirs from around the world, and the only Canadian choir! The singers in the Vancouver Youth Choir are passionate and joyful about their music-making. We are so proud of their work, and are very excited to share it with you.
