ABOUT THE ARTISTS

MATT ALBER

"I was transported to beautiful, treacherous emotional terrain."
- Stephen Holden, The New York Times

Two-time Grammy® Award-winning, out singer/songwriter Matt Alber has released four self-produced albums reminiscent of Rufus Wainwright, John Legend & K.D. Lang. His 1960s Mad Men-inspired music video for End Of The World has garnered over a million views since debuting on MTVs Logo Channel and sparked a touring career that has spanned nearly 10 years.

Matts songs have been featured on the ABC Television series The Fosters and Bones. Notable live appearances include sold out concerts at New Yorks Lincoln Center, San Franciscos Great American Music Hall, and a featured stadium performance for 30,000 at Chicagos Soldier Field during the opening ceremonies of the 7th Gay Olympic Games.

Matt also works as a youth mentor and has toured as an artist diplomat of the US State Department in 6 countries including Sudan, Russia & Kosovo.

As a filmmaker, Matt focuses on the stories of LGBTQ+ youth & elders. His current film & docu-series, Room To Grow, chronicles the lives of 12 LGBTQ+ teens and families. To learn more and help fund the series, visit: www.moreroomtogrow.org

ERIK GULLICKSON

A native of Fairbanks, Alaska, Erik Gullickson (he/him) has worked in the arts for more than thirty years as teacher, performer, director, and stage manager for over 100 productions across the country. Erik holds a Bachelor of Music in Vocal  Performance from the University of Idaho, and a Master of Music in Vocal Performance from Temple University. Locally, Erik has been a member of the Trinity Episcopal Cathedral Choir and Chamber Singers, and is a frequent soloist and member of the Portland Gay Mens Chorus, recently serving as conductor for their historic tour of Mainland China. He is a student of performance coach, Stephanie Lynne Smith, and voice teacher, Daniel Buchanan.

A lifelong youth advocate, Erik is continually amazed at the bravery, strength, and raw talent of Bridging Voices. He describes his ongoing leadership of Bridging Voices as the culmination of all lifes paths; a dual opportunity to cultivate a space where all youth are welcome as they are, and to challenge his own assumptions of what the world can be in a city where dreams can be realized.

BRIDGING VOICES YOUTH CHOIR

Founded in 2013, Bridging Voices is Oregon's only choral group specifically reaching out to youth who identify as LGBTQ+ and Allied and is a non-audition chorus open to queer, trans, straight and questioning youth, ages 13-22.
The Mission of Bridging Voices is to create a safe, welcoming and accessible place for queer, trans and allied youth to experience empowerment and unity through music. Bridging Voices reaches out to queer youth and their families, provides education on queer issues to the greater Portland area, and uplifts the LGBTQ community.

Bridging Voices also aims to break down the foundations of homophobia and transphobia through visibility and diversity by conveying the stories of the lives of LGBTQ+ individuals through the power of music.
