Following three sold out productions, the Irish Play Series returns with Enda Walsh's award winning play "The New Electric Ballroom".
In an isolated fishing village on the west coast of Ireland, three elderly sisters re-enact the pivotal night of their youth at the New Electric Ballroom where they vied for the attention of Roller Royle, the visiting showband's seductive lead singer. Grudges resurface, insults are bandied, and food items fly through the air-- only the appearance of a lonely fishmonger bearing fish turns the evening in a new direction.
Funny, tender-hearted and at times pitch dark.
"I imagined these women transforming themselves into their 18-year-old selves. Ive always liked characters to perform. I think it goes back to that Irish thing, you know, Get up and do something! Show something of yourself!"
"In the end, I write simply about love. Its in every bloody play."
-Enda Walsh
