Carbonator 500 Demonstration Day
Dan Falk, of Falk Forestry, in collaboration with Richardson Ranch LLC,is hosting a Demo Day showcasing the Carbonator 500 biomass processor that he purchased earlier this year. This is a large-scale machine, similar to an air curtain burner, that can process 15 to 20 tons of woody materials an hour very efficiently while also producing biochar, a valuable soil amendment. Because the smoke is recirculated back into the burn chamber, particulate pollution is significantly reduced compared to an open burn pile. Dan will be using the various tools and equipment needed to split large logs and load the Carbonator, and you can watch as the biochar is being made.
Matt O'Connor of ROI Equipment, the developer of the Carbonator technology, will be on hand to answer all technical questions and Raymond Baltar, Director of the Sonoma Biochar Initiative and Biochar Projects Manager for the Sonoma Ecology Center, will also provide information about biochar benefits and use.
A catered lunch and refreshments will be provided, and the event is free.
If you have a project that produces a lot of surplus biomass and you are looking for an alternative to open burn piles or chipping, you should be sure to attend this demo. While the event is free, please do register so we know how many people will be attending.
