Celtic Community Night featuring Bellow Bridge
Connecting Celtic Appreciators in Portland PORTLAND CELTIC COMMUNITY NIGHT Second Wednesday every month.
The goal is simple: Create a stronger, vibrant, and more unified community of Celtic musicians, dancers, and artists, and appreciators within the Portland, Oregon region. By hosting evenings that include performances by local and regional bands and artists, followed by an open traditional music and dance session, we can help foster a fun and inclusive environment where everyone can appreciate and participate in Celtic culture.
Bellow Bridge is an acoustic folk band that plays music in a contemporary Celtic style. Formed in 2013 by Jason Hohl (mandolin, button accordion, vocals,) Phil Dale (uilleann pipes, whistle,) Sarah Emett (vocals, bodhran,) and Philip Hitt (guitars, vocals) the core of their repertoire is pulled from the rich folk traditions of British Isles, and is sprinkled with original songs and tunes too. The band draws their influences from such luminaries as Lunasa, Boys of the Lough, Dougie MacLean, and Colleen Raney to name just a few. With an emphasis on material with strong melodic roots that is accessible to both general audiences and trad loving enthusiasts alike, they have developed their own sound that is uniquely Bellow Bridge. The joy of making music together is what keeps us ticking as a band. We think of ourselves as the village band, like in times past when live-music was just a part of community life. Good fun and great tunes are at the heart of what Bellow Bridge is all about.
