"Memory of Max, Clarie and Ida
Veteran documentary filmmaker and reigning Canadian documentary colossus Allan King probes the aging mind. Memory for Max, Claire, Ida and Company was filmed over four months at Toronto's Baycrest Centre for Geriatric Care. The film stands first as a testament to, and by, those confronted with memory loss and is presented with King's signature documentary style of no narration, no direction of action and no conventional interviews. King's last award-winning documentary, Dying at Grace, finished among the top ten films of Canada in 2003. Memory for Max, Claire, Ida and Company has left Canadian audiences with deeply affecting portrayals of the complexities of this disease.
