ABOUT: LATE NITE ART it is an evening of collaborative art-making, ambient music, delicious vegetarian food and insightful discussion. In a few words, it's a social art experience. LATE NITE ART is an open platform for all non-artists and artists alike to come together. You don't need to be able to color within the lines or draw portraits of fruit bowls - you just need eyes, ears, and an open mind.
Our theme, Petrochemical America, will explore our relationship to the industrial landscape of the Bay Area and beyond. Through free form collaborative art making, participants from across the Bay Area will dig in and get their hands dirty in issues of identity in Petrochemical America.
LATE NITE ART: Petrochemical America is presented in conjunction with Richard Misrach and Kate Orff's exhibit "Petrochemical America Project Room," a project that brings into focus the economic and ecological forces that have shaped industrial landscapes. This exhibit offers an in-depth look through photographs and data mapping of how the powerful petrochemical industry has impacted the communities along the Chemical Corridor and the implications this has for humanity as we know it. This exhibit is toured by Aperture Foundation.
Given that we can only accommodate a maximum of 50 people, we require your confirmation in advance to guarantee you a seat.
We ask you to respect the time frame allotted for the event - 7.00PM - 10.30PM. This is an immersive experience that begins and ends with the same amount of people: no tardies and no early departees!
(Also a little note on policy, there are no refunds/extensions!)
