Sunny Sweeney & Erin Enderlin
Sunny Sweeney is the party and the morning after. Shes the quip that makes you laugh and the truth that makes you cry, the devil thats egging you on and the angel whispering that you arent alone. But those compelling contradictions arent whats most interesting about Sweeney: its the depth and brazen authenticity she brings to all her roles that grabs you and wont let go.
Ive grown up doing the bar scenes, and you have to have drinking and partying songs there-you have to, Sweeney says. Now, my songs are still about the same things, but I feel like theyre more mature versions. Sweeneys salty wisdom and Texas-hewn soprano have never sounded stronger than they do on Trophy, her anticipated new album. Sunny Sweeney's wit and honesty has always defined her stone-cold country have blossomed into confessional, complex songwriting for grown-ups, still whiskey-drenched and honk-tonk-ready. Drugs, death, the ex-wife, drinking, devotion, and longing for a child: its all here, raw and real.
Erin Enderlin
The last few years have been especially busy for singer-songwriter Erin Enderlin. While she first turned heads as a godsend to those aching for an artist with some golden-era country backbone, Enderlins acclaimed 2017 record Whiskeytown Crier cemented her as something even more: a literary songwriter and superb vocal stylist with a knack for sharply drawnand often sadcharacters. Named a member of the 2018 CMT Next Women of Country class and recipient of the Arkansas Country Music Awards Songwriter and Album of the Year trophies, she has surged to the forefront of new artists rooted in the genres rich history. Enderlin is also a go-to writer for stars looking for heavyweight country with classic panacheAlan Jacksons Monday Morning Church, Lee Ann Womacks Last Call, Luke Bryans You Dont Know Jack and a host of other songs recorded by Randy Travis, Joey + Rory, Reba McEntire, Terri Clark, Whisperin Bill Anderson, and more are all Enderlin-penned.
In a twist that stretches the possibilities of storytelling through song, Enderlin released a series of four digital EP in 2019, with each three-track collection based on a central character or theme. Her full-length album Faulkner County was released on November 1, 2019. Im obsessed with characters, and the idea of being able to take that to the next level really appeals to me, she says. Its ambitious, she says with a laugh before adding, but I do think its going to be something really cool. New album Faulkner County available now: https://erin-enderlin.lnk.to/falkcntyFA
