An Update on Commercial Aviation in SLO County and Plans for the Future -- Kevin Bumen

Kevin Bumen, Director of Airports for San Luis Obispo County will describe current operations of the San Luis Obispo Regional Airport, explain the development process and design of the new terminal, how new airlines are chosen to serve the community, the role of various governmental agencies overseeing the airport and the future of aviation in the county.
After the lecture, if you want, you can take a tour of the FAA Control Tower. During this tour, the controllers will describe the responsibilities of the controllers, will direct aircraft in real-time and will explain the electronic equipment and radar capabilities necessary to safely control departing and arriving aircraft.
PLEASE NOTE: Participants in the control tower tour must be able to walk up five flights of stairs to the top of the control tower.
Kevin Bumen has been the Director of Airports, San Luis Obispo County for the past six years. Previously he was the Director of Aviation and Business Services at the Truckee Tahoe Airport District. Kevin has 16 years of airport management experience, including managing major capital airport projects, aviation business development, FBO operations and aviation safety.
