Teen 'Prov consists of TWO SHOWS featuring teen improv troupes, Cobra Clan and Fire in the Theater. Each show will be entirely improvised, creating made-up characters and scenarios never seen before and never to be seen again!
Cobra Clan's show will be from 7:00PM to 8:00PM and will consist of short-form improv like you might see on Whose Line is it Anyway.
Fire in the Theater's show is from 8:30PM to 9:30PM. FITT will be performing a mix of both short-form and long-form (Chicago style) improv.
Admission is $10 for one show or $12 for both.
----------
ALL THE NITTY GRITTY DEETS!
Fire in the Theater troupe members are made up of CHS upperclassmen and women who have been training in the art of improvisation since the 5th or 6th grade. They are Jesse Bloom, Maya Greenstein, Aiden Kern-Kensler, Ari Mehlman, and Molly Sandler. Their director is Abby Sher -- local producer of the Chucklepatch Show, popular YA author, former member of the Second City Touring Company, and current member of Montclair Improv Comedy.
Cobra Clan is Rocket Improv's newest teen troupe featuring local 8th-10th graders Dustin Crisci, Henry Toth, Olivia Graziano, Hannah Kennedy, Sean Kennedy, Sally OSullivan, Ella Shipman and Sam Dorbin -- all of whom have come up through the Rocket Improv training progam together. Their director is Dave Maulbeck -- professional actor and former performer at the Upright Citizens Brigade, Magnet, and the PIT, and current director and performer with Dreamcather Rep's improv troupe the Flipside.
Rocket Improv teen troupes are formed when improv students have been improvising together for a few years and are ready to take the next step in their training. The troupes come up with their own name, form their own identity, have a say in the kind of work they want to do and also in the choosing of their director.
Both improv troupes train with the SOMA based improv school, Rocket Improv which runs improv classes for kids, tweens, and teens and corporate improv workshops for businesses such as Johnson and Johnson, Studio 1200, and Brandshare. Rocket Improv is owned and run by Maplewood improvisers Lulu French and Brad Barton. Lulu and Brad can both be seen performing with Montclair Improv Comedy, and Lulu also performs with Dreamcatcher Reps improv troupe, the Flipside.
