LIVE ARTS IN RESISTANCE
Movement for Liberation/dana e. fitchett
In NEVERFOUNDNEVERLOST, dana e. fitchett uses movement to explore relationships between identity, memory, language, and multiple types of migration: of a population across space and time; of a peoples culture; of a single person over the course of a lifetime; and of a persons identity across time, as informed by place and more. The title of the work expresses a core value of fitchetts work: the value of beingbeing present, being true, being indulgent of the distinctness one is born with. The resulting work is more meditation than proclamation. More rejoicing ritual than performance. More scrapbook than prose. The piece is composed of several live dance and film vignettes, choreographed to a range of African diasporic sound with an emphasis on jazz and Afro-soulful house music.
Showtime FRI/JAN 24 - 8 PM Followed by discussion SAT/JAN 25 - 8 PM Followed by a house music dance party, in the spirit of the east coast club culture dana comes from. A party for the sake of movement, not for posturing or performing, just for getting free

LIVE ARTS IN RESISTANCE is a dynamic series of performances, artist residencies and community town halls to address racial inequity and white supremacy in popular culture. Together we push the boundaries of our practices and contemplate our role and responsibility in connecting the many struggles of our respective communities both locally and globally.
LAIR is made possible with the support from William Flora Hewlett Foundation, Rainin Foundation, Caw Foundation and individual donors.
